A figure named Voov Voov haunts the stage, performing the excess of her human counterpart. She is a mirror for our projections: mother, stuffed animal, lover, weapon, god. At once a solo and a duet, 1 ½ is a meditation on the limits of embodiment and the cultural recognition of form: How does a body become recognizable as human? By what processes does the inanimate become animate and the animate become inanimate? Does death reside in the living? Is there life in the dead?
